College of Engineering, December 2008 Graduation Ceremony

The College of Engineering Graduation Ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. The ceremony will conclude after approximately 1½ hours. Each participant's name will be read as they cross the stage, shake hands with their department head and Dean Ilesanmi Adesida, and receive a diploma cover. There will not be a hooding ceremony for graduate students at this program.

All College of Engineering BS , MS , and PhD candidates with degree dates in August 2008, October 2008, or December 2008 are eligible to participate in the engineering commencement ceremony. Students expecting to participate in this ceremony are asked to accomplish the following three steps:

Step 1. - All candidates must sign up in order to be a participant at Graduation. Please go to the following website to sign up: https://engineering.uiuc.edu/attend_commencement. You may sign up between October 13 and December 5. There will be a photographer at the Engineering Commencement to take pictures of the graduates as they receive their diploma covers. When you sign up to attend the ceremony, please indicate whether or not you would like to have a free Photo Proof from commencement sent to you.

Step 2. - Students who are participating in the ceremony must go to 206 Engineering Hall to pick up an instruction sheet and tickets for guests (4 per student maximum) between October 13 and December 5.

Step 3. - Caps and gowns are required. Participating graduates MUST complete an order form for their caps and gowns online. The website for ordering regalia will be available from Friday, October 3, 2008 through midnight on Wednesday, November 26, 2008.

If you are unable to order online, and live on campus or within 30 miles of Champaign-Urbana, you may order regalia (and be measured) in person at the Illini Union Bookstore Author's Corner from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.

The rental fee for caps and gowns are: BS $41.00; MS (includes hood) $54.00; PhD (includes hood) $72.00. The rental fee is to be paid by cash or check when students pick up their caps and gowns. Distribution dates are Wednesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 18 at the Author's Corner of the Illini Union Bookstore from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Anyone who does not order before the deadline will have to go to distribution on December 17 to see if Herff Jones will allow them to place an order (late orders will be charged an additional $20.00).
