University of Illinois College of Engineering alumni can now share their professional
experience and career expertise with students and other alumni by participating
in a new College-wide mentor program through Always Illinois, the primary social
networking site for Illinois students, alumni, and friends. Participants in
this program register online with Always
Illinois at no charge and indicate their willingness to serve as a mentor
for current students. This program enables students to gain more direct insight
and knowledge about engineering careers, and provides alumni with the opportunity
to expand their professional network and to give back to current students in
the Illinois community.
To volunteer as a mentor, log onto Always
Illinois to register, and join the Engineering Student Alumni Mentor Group.
Students can search for a mentor based on criteria in your profile, or by posting
a message indicating the type of mentor they are seeking. Alumni can also post
messages indicating their interest in mentoring a student.
Alumni interested in getting involved in other student development activities
can contact Engineering Career Services (ECS) at (217) 333-1960 or szehr@illinois.edu.
Many opportunities exist for alumni to serve as club speakers, mock interviewers,
job shadow hosts, résumé reviewers, and more.
